    Fire consumes restaurants

    Lee's catches fire

    The Daily Star/Jacob Rester

Lee’s Drive-in and Superking Seafood on West Thomas Street burned down on Apr. 10.

According to Hammond Fire Chief Thomas, “We have just finished from two commercial structure fires in town, Lee’s Drive-In and Seafood King. These are two very popular eating places. With today’s heat, multiple roofs and multiple buildings we appreciate mutual aid from Ponchatoula, Natalbany and Independence Fire Departments. Our firemen knew they had a mission and extinguished the fires. We’re thankful all employees, customers and firefighters were kept safe from harm. We also want to thank PJs downtown for keeping the firemen hydrated.”

For a full story on these events, see next week’s issue of The Lion’s Roar newspaper.
