Campus Activities Board hosted a pizza-making party to celebrate Pi Day.

The event took place on Mar. 14 in the Pennington. Students had the opportunity to answer pizza related trivia questions and make their own pizzas.

Gabrielle Levet, a CAB member, read the trivia questions out loud and helped bake the pizzas which students shaped and put toppings on.

“Since today is Pi Day, we wanted to incorporate some kind of pie making event,” said Levet, a sophomore English education major. “However, it was easier and we figured a bigger turnout to do pizza and I’m glad we did, because tonight was a really good turnout.”

Ashlyn Ellender, a freshman biology major attended the event and had the most amount of correctly answered trivia questions.

“It was fun,” said Ellender. “It was nice to get out and do something for once. All I’ve done since I got here is study.”

Students had access to slips of paper and markers, which they could use to write down answers to the trivia questions. After all the answers were written down, the real answer was revealed and students turned their papers in if they had the correct answer on them. Ellender won different pieces of university memorabilia for winning the trivia contest.

“I thought it was kind of fun and cute,” said Ellender. “It would have been cool if we could have organized actual teams but I guess this prize may not have been convenient. I got a poncho, a T-shirt, a cap and an iron on. This is fun, and I have wanted to get more involved.”

Gabrielle Gasperd, a freshman art major attended the event. She appreciated the importance of learning how to independently make food.

“I thought it was interesting,” said Gaspard. “You get to learn a little fun math related trivia. It was fun, you got to make your own pizza, spend a little time being your own chef. You get to experiment with a ton of little ingredients to make a slightly better pizza.”

Pi Day was held in celebration of Mar. 14, which is numerically represented as 3.14.2017, with the month and day representing the first three digits of Pi. CAB hosts a diverse multitude of events, but still looks for new ideas.

“I hope more people come to our events because they are really fun and we do get a lot of involvement and positive feedback,” said Levet. “If anybody has any ideas for events that we don’t have yet, you could let us know.”

CAB hosts multiple events. The next CAB event is Puppy Pawlooza, where students are invited to play with puppies that are available for adoption. Puppy Pawlooza will take place on Mar. 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students were able to either make their pizza at the toppings table or bring toppings back to where they were seated to make their pizza. Students were encouraged to get creative.
