Soon to be graduates will get to have one more campus event at the “Lion4Life Launch” on the first floor of the Strawberry Stadium Parking Garage.

The party for graduating seniors will be on Dec. 7 starting at 2:30 p.m. The Alumni Association has replaced the “Senior Send-Off” party with a different theme and some new features of the graduation party.

“We have completely reinvented the entire event,” said Executive Director of Alumni Relations Michelle Biggs. “We thought it would be a good idea to rename it because we are launching these students into the real world.”

The Alumni Association will be providing new forms of entertainment and serving refreshments.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun this year,” said Biggs. “We have food trucks. We’re gonna have Gnarly Barley here serving up beer, and we’re gonna have a digital gif photo booth. Really I think the main attraction will be the food trucks since that is something we never really had on campus before.”

Associate Director of Alumni Programming Jennifer O’Neil elaborated more on what’s new for the “Lion4Life Launch.”

“We are doing something different in that each senior that’s coming is getting a travel mug and we will have some ‘Lion4Life’ T-shirts available,” said O’Neil.

The goal for the Alumni Association is to increase the attendance for this event in upcoming semesters as they make changes and adjustments to it each semester.

“We really want to grow it,” said Biggs. “We already will see better attendance this year based on the number of RSVP’s that we have so far. So, we’re hoping to really grow it so that we can have more food trucks and more of everything.”

Faculty members are also being invited to participate in the launch and to interact with the graduating seniors.

“We thought it would be fun to have faculty versus students in the corn hole toss or the giant Jenga game,” said Biggs. “We are really going to encourage some participation from the faculty as well.”

The graduating seniors will be able to bring one guest with them for $10, and will have the opportunity to join Lion Legacy.

“It’s chance for them to mingle, but it is also a chance for them to join the Lion Legacy Society,” said O’Neil. “They will be able to pick up their green and gold cords, and they are going to get their mini diplomas while they are here.”
