    Contest rescheduled

Due to the unrelenting rain on Friday, June 4, the Downtown Development District (DDD) decided to cancel the June “Take it to the Tracks” block party.

The cancellation affected the first round of the Hammond’s Hottest Talent singing competition for local amateur singers. The first round has been rescheduled for Friday, July 2. This round is part of a series that will continue during the summer block parties leading up to Hot August Night, where the winner will be announced.

DDD Director Terry Lynn Smith said the cancellation was due to fear of the sound equipment becoming damaged.

The DDD can be contacted for more information or registration at 985-542-3471. Contestants must be 18 or older, and there is an entry fee of $10.
