The Lion’s Roar: What do you enjoy the most about being a part of Southeastern’s softball team?
Lacey Fritz: I enjoy that I get to continue playing softball, the people I’ve met, traveling, the opportunities you get being in college when playing the sport. I guess just traveling places and meeting different people.
TLR: Why did you choose Southeastern?
LF: I really like it down here in Hammond, it’s something different, and I enjoy it. I like the coaches and the experience, so I gave it a shot.
TLR: Who’s your role model outside and inside of sports?
LF: It would have to be my dad. I really look up to him a lot, and he’s really my main supporter. I always go to him when I’m struggling or stuff like that.Inside of sports, it would have to be the seniors on the team. They have a real good experience, and they really support the younger people.
TLR: Do you have any pre-game rituals?
LF: I like to listen to music and walk around and let it sink in as I take my times and stuff like that.
TLR: What do you love the most about playing this sport?
LF: I love the game and when it actually comes down to playing time, it’s been a part of my life ever since I can remember. I couldn’t imagine life without playing softball.
TLR: What’s some advice you’d give to a young girl wanting to play softball?
LF: It’s going to be tough during the training process and practices with everyone. It’s going to be hard. If you want to play you have to keep pushing hard enough. Don’t give up and put it on your mind to play.
