The Campus Activities Board members is busy prepping for many annual spring activities for students and Hammond community members to attend. One of the events is the university’s annual Strawberry Jubilee, which features games, food and memories that students will be sure to remember.
According to CAB Coordinator Todd McElroy, Strawberry Jubilee is a gathering for the Southeastern community.
Strawberry Jubilee is planned to take place Wednesday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event’s location has changed from last year and will be taking place outside of the Student Union.
Since Strawberry Jubilee is an important event for the university, McElroy explained how he and CAB members have prepped for this semester’s event.
“The Campus Activities Board has been working very tirelessly as always to make this year’s Strawberry Jubilee event as fulfilling as last year,” said McElroy. “We plan to bring a great event to the students here at the university.”
This year’s Strawberry Jubilee ceremonial cake cutting will feature 2015 Miss Southeastern, Emily Randon, along with university President John L. Crain.
Students will have a chance to enjoy foods such as vanilla, chocolate and strawberry cupcakes, red beans and rice and strawberry cake. Additionally, many activities are planned to take place.
New to this year’s event will be a performance from Thibodaux native band, Nonc Nu & Da Wild Matous.
“Along with a performance from Nonc Nu & Da Wild Matous, students can enjoy a ride on the mechanical surfboard which will be present this year, and they will have a chance to customize their own license plates,” said McElroy.
The spring season is a time to finish the semester strong and enjoy the few activities left throughout the duration of the semester.
“Last year’s Strawberry Jubilee was amazing, and I really enjoyed seeing the university come together and have fun,” said Audrey Williams, accounting major. “I’m very excited to see what’s in store.”
